Westside Village needed a design partner to bring two distinct concepts - a fast-casual restaurant and beer garden, and a fly-fishing retail outfitter - to life as one connected riverfront destination, built to serve both casual diners and outdoor recreation visitors.
We designed nearly 1,500 SF of retail space for Tailwaters Fly Fishing Co.'s second store, alongside Levee Porch's approximately 400 SF bar area, 500 SF covered porch with a walk-up bar window, and beer garden below. Ground-level amenities include covered porch seating and a beer garden shaded by live oak trees, supporting community programming like fly-fishing film tours, fun runs, and casting competitions. ARCO Design/Build served as design-build contractor, delivering the project alongside our design.
The completed project will give Fort Worth a relaxed, fast-casual gathering spot paired with a dedicated fly-fishing retail destination, creating a recreational hub along the Trinity River, with future plans for a dedicated kayak launch providing direct river access.

The design-build process has fundamentally redefined the modern architectural practice. Historically, the architectural world operated on standard segregation: design first (Architect), bid second (Owner/Contractor), build third (General Contractor).
Over more than two decades of planning manufacturing, distribution, industrial, commercial, and other complex facilities, I’ve learned that successful projects are rarely defined by the building alone.
